About the event
Over time, the 4921 Reading Room Society has grown into a bridge between new neighbours and the wider North Shore community. Sustained entirely by nearly 30 volunteers, it reflects a shared commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a growth mindset—a place where stories, resources, and friendships meet.
Founded in 2018 as a registered non-profit cultural organization, 4921 began by offering access to Chinese-language books, bringing new titles to its shelves with a speed and responsiveness that reflected the needs of a growing community. While shared cultural roots were the starting point, the intention has always been broader: to create pathways into the life of the wider community and build connection beyond language.
