Inside West Vancouver is an insider’s view of the people, politics and planning that have helped shape West Vancouver.

To create this memoir of life in public service, author Rod Day drew on his years on council and on his career in the Department of History at Simon Fraser University. He conducted extensive research in the West Vancouver Archives and consulted personal records maintained over the years.

Rod served on Council for 16 years, and on advisory bodies and working groups (mainly Parks, Planning and Design, Library and Heritage), for another15 years, a total of 31 years.

He was involved in almost every aspect of municipal life, particularly in the acquisition and protection of the waterfront from Ambleside to Dundarave, and in planning sustainable development in the Upper Lands.

Rod has served for many years on the board of WVHS, and as President of the Society from 2016 – 2021.

On June 21, 2022 a book launch was held in conjunction with the AGM, with a dinner and social gathering. Over 100 people attended.

All proceeds from sales of Inside West Vancouver have helped to support the WVHS Heritage Conservation Fund.
